BAE Systems (BA.L) – Secured a A$35bn contract or £19.7bn to produce a fleet of 9 anti-submarine frigates for the Australian navy, including the design, build and support of the ships. After negotiations with the government initial design, expected to be in place by the year end, it also updated on a number of contracts it has been pursuing in H1 of the year. Tesco (TSCO.L) – Will trial a method of payment for its convenience stores removing the need for a checkout, providing customers a facility to scan products using their mobile phones and them allowing them to walk out with them. Closing price 632.20p (Reuters)

Serco (SRP.L) – Now expects revenues from previous guidance of £2.8-2.9bn down to £2.7-2.8bn lower than previously targeted for 2018 however, still on course for underlying profit of £80m in a cost savings effort. H1 revenue was expected at around £1.35bn with underlying trading profit expected to be £35-£40m. Closing price 101.10p (Reuters)

Barclays (BARC.L), HSBC Holdings (HSBA.L) – Some UK banks were among several companies to substantially increase their capital ratios. The FED have conducted a review of 35 banks on their capital adequacy more than doubling from 5.9% in 2009 to 12.3% in Q4 of 2017 reflecting an increase of more than $800bn. Closing prices 190.16p, 708.70p (US Federal Reseve)
