Barclays (BARC.L) - Big banks have started pulling their business out of Barclays' dark pool, after the British bank was sued by New York's top securities regulator for allegedly misleading institutional investors over its anonymous trading venue. Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, and Royal Bank of Canada, asset manager Alliance Bernstein were among the institutions that withdrew from Barclays' dark pool on Thursday. Closing price 215p. Glencore (GLEN.L) - Denied claims by an Australian newspaper that its coal division had paid no taxes in Australia in the past three years on income of A$15bn ($14.10bn). Closing price 324.55p. (Reuters)

Shire Pharmaceuticals (SHP.L) - AbbVie Inc, in its pursuit of drug maker Shire Plc, has hired some of the same advisers that Pfizer Inc. worked with in its failed push for AstraZeneca. They’re trying to learn from the experience. AbbVie’s chief executive officer, yesterday made clear that a hostile bid is an option for his company. Closing price 4537p. (Bloomberg)
