Greggs (GRG.L) – Has forecast profit for the year to Jan. 3 ahead of analysts' current expectations. The firm said sales at stores open over a year rose 5.2% in the 24 weeks to Dec. 13, taking the year to date performance to up 4.2%. Closing price 656.50p (Reuters)

Rio Tinto (RIO.L) & BHP Billiton (BLT.L) – Are amassing vast copper holdings in a push to capture a greater chunk of the $140 billion world market, apparently aiming to squeeze out high-cost producers just as they did in the global iron ore business. Closing prices 2682.50p, 1325.00p. (Reuters)
