China’s imports of crude oil and iron ore rose to records in 2016, coal buying expanded for the first time in three years. Barclays (BARC.L), Lloyds (LLOY.L), Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS.L) – British bankers are lowering their expectations on securing a Brexit deal that will safeguard passporting in the financial sector. TheCityUK lobby group is no longer so vocal in seeking so-called passporting, which allows global banks with bases in London to provide unrestricted services to the rest of Europe. Centamin (CEY.L), Fresnillo (FRES.L), Hochschild Mining (HOC.L), Randgold Resources (RRS.L) - The dollar headed for a weekly loss and gold traded at the highest price in almost two months as investors continued to assess whether market moves since the U.S. election have gone too far. The Dollar rose after touching the lowest point in a month, Fed Chair Janet Yellen reiterated that the U.S. economy is doing well. Gold has seen a four-day rally.
