Anglo American (AAL.L), Glencore (GLEN.L) – Alcoa to kick off US earnings season after the close of US trading today.  Closing price 1042.50p, 228.00p, (Reuters)

BP PLC (BP.L) – Won’t proceed with an oil exploration in the offshore Great Australian Bight five years after it began looking for resources in the area and before it was allowed to drill any wells. The company was awarded the exploration license in 2011 and had previously estimated the drilling program would cost more than $A1Bn.  Closing price 494.45p (Bloomberg)

BP (BP.L), Royal Dutch Shell (RDSB.L) - Oil prices edged down on Tuesday but held near one-year highs touched on growing expectations of an output cut by OPEC producers, with traders saying the price outlook remains bullish as confidence in crude markets rises. Next (NXT.L), Burberry Group (BRBY.L), BooHoo (BOO.L), Asos (ASOS.L), Sports Direct (SPD.L) - The British Retail Consortium, KPMG in London published the Sept retail sales monitor showing total retail sales, which had beaten expectations, +1.3% year on year vs Aug (-0.3% y/y). Closing prices 4534.00p, 1479.00p,  5100.00p, 270.50p (Bloomberg)

Royal Bank Of Scotland (RBS.L)  No evidence it had deliberately caused SMEs to fail, while a senior British lawmaker called for the country's regulator to fix a publication date for a long-delayed review into the allegations. Closing price 178.60p (Reuters)

Ted Baker (TED.L) Group revenue +14.4% to £259.5m UK and Europe retail sales +8.5% to £131.2m. CEO says Ted Baker continues to perform well across all distribution channels despite challenging trading conditions across markets. "Our continued growth and development reflects the strength of the Ted Baker brand." Closing price 2415.00p (Reuters)
