Rio Tinto (RIO.L), Glencore Xstrata (GLEN.L) and BHP Billiton (BLT.L) - Although Chinese PMI softened in October (52.9 vs 53.5 in September) expansion was still present. Furthermore China plans a $16.3bn fund to finance construction of infrastructure linking its markets to three continents. The fund will be used to build and expand railways, roads and pipelines in Chinese provinces that are part of a strategy to facilitate trade over land and shipping routes. Marks & Spencer (MKS.L) - Reported a 13th consecutive quarterly fall in underlying sales of general merchandise, hurt by unseasonably warm September weather. The group did post a rise in underlying first-half profit for the first time in four years, benefiting from improved profit margins and a good performance in food - £268m, ahead of analysts' average forecast of £252m. Meggitt (MGGT.L) - Meggitt PLC announces that it has entered into an arrangement with its broker, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, to commence on its behalf share repurchases under the Company's share repurchase programme. Closing Price 440.00p (Reuters)

Old Mutual (OML.L) - Today reports its results for the third quarter. Net income of $37.6m up 19% from the comparative quarter in 2013. Closing price 192.00p (Reuters)
