Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +54 points this morning at 7159.  The UK 100 expected to open higher on Tuesday, shrugging off a weak showing in the US, Wall Street’s major indices ended in negative territory, finishing a strong month on a softer footing with investors looking ahead to the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting which kicks off today.  At the close the Dow Jones was down 129 points, or 0.39%, at 32,733, the S&P fell 29 points, or 0.75%, to 3,872 and the Nasdaq declined 114 points, or 1.03%, to 10,988.

Company News:

BP reported a Q3 profit of $8.15bn, which easily beat expectations, boosted by very strong natural gas trading as the company announced another $2.5bn in share repurchases. They announce a Q3 dividend of 6.006 US cents (2021: 5.460 US cents).

 

 

Diageo enters into an agreement with Merrill Lynch to buyback £640m in shares.

 

 

Ferrexpo says the supply of power is still variable after missile strikes, which is impacting production.

 

 

Ocado partners with Lotte Shopping to develop Lotte's online business in South Korea.

 

 

Playtech promotes deputy CFO Chris McGinnis to permanent role as current CFO Andrew Smith plans to step down on Nov 28th.

 

 

Rentokil Initial says their Q3 ongoing revenue grew 10% as their Q3 finished well despite impact of Hurricane Ian. They state that their pipeline remains strong as they remain on track to spend £250m in 2022.

 

 

TP ICAP reported a 14% jump in Q3 revenue as the world's biggest inter-dealer broker benefited from volatility in stock and foreign exchange markets and robust performance in its global broking unit. They reported a revenue of £508m for the three months ended Sept 30th, compared with £447m last year.
