Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +18 points today at 7118.  Calls for a modestly higher open this morning come after a sell of towards the end of yesterday's session saw a 1% fall on the UK blue chip index, driven by oil prices hitting the highest levels in six years, those gains however have been wiped out overnight.  It was a mixed performance on Wall Street, the Dow Jones  closed down 0.6% at 34,577 while the S&P 500 dropped 0.2% to 4,343. The Nasdaq however, rose by 0.17% to a record 14,663.  Markets in Asia were more negative this morning, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 down 1.2% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng sank 0.81%.  In focus today will be the minutes from the June meeting of the US Federal Reserve’s rate-setting FOMC.

Ferrexpo appoints Nikolay Kladiev as group CFO. Co. also reports production of high-quality pellets represented 100% of total pellet output in Q2.
Galliford Try wins contract worth £350m as it is appointed to the Major Environment Framework.
Go-Ahead Group welcomes further funding to its bus service in England which amounts to £226.4m from the Department of Transport, funded by the UK Government.
Vistry Group reports strong H1 performance, which was significantly ahead of company expectations, supported by customer demand. Group forward sales position of £2.7bn. On track to deliver 6500 units (4652 uts 2020) in FY 21'. Group well positioned for full year and maintains its expectations for FY22.
Redrow announces that since interim results in Feb, the sales market remains strong. Average house prices have increased YoY. Expects turnover for 21' to be £1.94bn on legal completions of 5620 units. Order book stands at £1.43bn at end of financial year.
