Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +13 points at 7849.  The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning, this follows a mixed session in Asia overnight, the Nikkei 225 index closed marginally lower in Tokyo while in China, the Shanghai Composite was up 0.3% and the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong was up 0.5%.  In the US, the Dow closed Monday down 36 points or 0.1%, at 33,890, the Nasdaq dropped 120 points or 1%, to end the session at 11,887 and the S&P shed 26 points or 0.6%, to close the session at 4,111.

AstraZeneca’s Forxiga has been approved in the EU for treatment of symptomatic chronic heart failure.

 

 

BP reported a record profit of $27.6bn in 2022 which was lifted by a surge in energy prices since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as the company also boosted its dividend by 10%. Their Q4 underlying replacement cost profit reached $4.8bn, compared with forecasts of $5bn profit.

 

 

GKP says their export pipeline to Ceyhan, Turkey has been temporarily suspended.

 

 

Relx have agreed to buy Aistemos for around £30m to enhance their intellectual property analytics.
