UK 100 called to open +16 points this morning at 6567. The UK 100 is expected to open slightly higher this morning, in spite of Brexit negotiations being seemingly on a knife edge,vaccine hopes are marginally outweighing any investor concern. In Asia, stocks retreated from record highs in a bout of profit-taking, which ignored better than expected export data from China. A big worry in the region is a potential parting shot from the Trump administration, which is threatening to sanction at least a dozen officials from the People’s Republic.
Frasers Group is in negotiations with the administrators of Debenham's UK business regarding a potential rescue transaction.
Games Workshop Group reports sales of £185m (2019: £148m) and profit before tax of £90m (2019: £59m). They have also declared a dividend of 60p per share.
Ted Baker posted a bigger HY loss as coronavirus-led restrictions hit store sales, even as the company's online business registered a strong performance. Their pretax loss widened to £39m (2019: £2.7m loss).
