The UK 100 is called to open -10 points this morning at 7274. The UK 100 looks set to open slightly lower this morning after Wall Street was closed yesterday. Asian markets were mixed with attention focussed on the Reserve Bank of Australia, who went ahead with another 50bps rate hike, the fourth meeting in a row that rates have been increased. Following Liz Truss' appointment as the new Prime Minister yesterday, the Government is expected to allow energy suppliers to take out government-backed loans in order to subsidise bills providing support to many households and businesses.
Ashtead today announced results, they said they have delivered Strong quarter with ongoing momentum in supportive end markets, Group revenue up was up 25% and adjusted earnings per share of 94.4¢
Berkeley said it is on track to meet its profit guidance and deliver a pre-tax profit for the current financial year ending 30 April 2023 of £600 million and £625 million for the year ended 30 April 2024. The profit for the current financial year is anticipated to be around 55 per cent weighted to the second half, in line with production scheduling.
DS Smith said they had delivered strong growth in profits and returns underpinned by excellent customer relationships, continued price recovery and good cost and cash management. Overall trading in line with expectations driven by pricing momentum and good cost control.
