Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +30 points today at 7031. A positive open is expected this morning, with the UK blue chip index being called to open at the same sort of levels as yesterday, recovering from a slight drop in the previous session and out performing global markets as oil prices spike to multi-year highs, prices were sent surging after the OPEC+ oil producers group refused to bow to pressure to pump more oil.  Stateside yesterday saw the Nasdaq tumble over 300 points or 2.1% to lead the Wall Street lower, with the S&P 500 falling 1.3% and the Dow Jones 0.9%.  In Asia this morning stocks were mainly lower, in Japan, the Nikkei slumped 2.33%.  Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was flat while markets in mainland China remained closed for the holidays.

Anglo American CEO of Bulk Commodities Seamus French is to leave his role at the end of December.
Greggs has raised its FY profit outlook after underlying sales in Q3 rose 3.5% to two years ago despite staffing and supply chain disruption. Growth was particularly strong in August when "staycation" effect was evident and remained in positive territory in September, with two-year like-for-like growth of 3% in the four weeks to Oct 2nd.
 
Melrose sees trading improvement in aerospace end markets as revenue between July and Sep +16% YoY. They expect further pick up in aerospace unit in H2 even though they note supply constraints hurting their automotive & powder metallurgy units.
ScS Group says trading for the new FY so far is in line with expectations as order intake is up 12% on 2019. They state that they are facing challenges with driver shortages, raw material prices increases and shipping costs.
