Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +40 points this morning at 5942. The FTSE 100 is called to open positively this morning, taking its cue from Asia’s main markets which were buoyed by hopes President Trump could soon be discharged from hospital following his Covid scare.  Stocks in the US finished Friday’s trading session session slightly lower after investors pinned hopes for further stimulus to offset some of the declines following President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s positive Covid-19 results. The Dow declined 133 points, for a loss of 0.48%, after earlier falling 433 points. The S&P 500 also closed lower, shedding 0.96%, and the Nasdaq completed a red day on Wall Street by ending the day 2.22% lower.

 

Company News:

Cineworld announce they are to temporarily close all its cinemas in UK and USA due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the delay of the release of the latest James Bond film.

LSE is set to be hit with a charge sheet in the coming weeks setting out the EU's antitrust concerns over its $27bn purchase of data provider Refinitiv.

National Grid have pledged to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in its USA operations by 2050.

Weir Group are to sell its oil & gas division to Caterpillar for $405m.
