Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +5 today at 7168. The UK blue chip index is expected to open marginally higher this morning as investors await more of a steer from today's non farm payroll data. This morning in Asia markets were mixed with the Nikkei 225 in Tokyo up 503 points at 29,047 and the Hang Seng in Hong Kong down 149 points at 25,942.  It was a more positive picture yesterday on Wall Street which saw, The Dow Jones adding 131 points to close at 35,444 and the S&P gain 13 points to settle at 4,537.

Company News:

 

Ashmore reports FY pretax profit of £282.5m (2020: £221.5m) as they recommend a final dividend of 12.1p, bringing the total payout to 16.9p. They state that outlook for emerging markets are positive.

Berkeley Group state that they are seeing construction cost inflation and are mindful of the ongoing supply chain and labour market issues due to Brexit and the pandemic. They expect pretax profit for FY 2022 to be at par or ahead of the corresponding year-ago period.

Petrofac secures a $100m contract with Zallaf Libya oil & gas for Erawin field.

Royal Dutch Shell says that Hurricane Ida has damaged one of its offshore transport stations.
