Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open -36 points this morning at 5536. Asian shares fell following yesterdays gains, as jitters over next week's US elections and a very nervous global economic outlook took hold. The record increase in coronavirus infections globally has firmly stayed on investors minds. Germany and France are prepping for fresh lockdowns as well. Gold was higher at $1874.06 per ounce up 0.4%, whilst oil picked up after hitting five month lows on Thursday. Brent finished at $37.80 a barrel up 15 cents whilst US Crude added 5 cents at $36.22.

IAG said it was driving down its cost base and called on governments to adopt pre-departure COVID-19 testing to allow travel during a second wave of infections that has locked down Europe again, after announcing a worse than expected Q3 loss of 1.3bn euros last week.

Natwest reported forecast beating Q3 earnings, setting aside a smaller-than-expected cash pile to deal with likely loan defaults due to the coronavirus pandemic.
