Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open -10 points at 7295; It is now confirmed that the U.K will head to the polls December 12th for a snap general election.  This however is more than a general election, this will be a proxy referendum on Brexit as voters choose between parties offering to cancel the divorce deal or to press on with it at any cost. The US had a mixed trading session, with the DOW closing -0.07%; The S&P closing -0.08% and the Nasdaq closing -0.59%.  It was a similarly subdued trading session in Asia overnight with the Nikkei -0.57% & The Hang Seng -0.53%. President Trump said he wants to dictate where cars are made, this may have impacted Asian sentiment.

In corporate news this morning:

 

AA announce the addition of Aviva onto their panel for motor insurance. Aviva are the first external insurer to join AA in over 10 years.

 

AstraZeneca has agreed the sale and license to the rights to Seroquel and Seroquel XR in Europe and Russia. 

 

BP announces after their results yesterday that they have not made a decision with respect to 4Q 2019 or any future dividend.

 

Dechra Pharmaceuticals announce the permanent appointment of Paul Sandland as CFO with immediate effect. 

 

GSK release their Q3 2019 trading update at 12pm today. 

 

Next maintains FY 2019 guidance after Q3 sales rise. Growth was slightly ahead of expectations Strong sales in July followed through to August, but unusually warm weather meant sales slowed in September. This was balanced by improved sales in October.

 

Standard Chartered Q3 profit +16% beating forecasts as a surge from corporate clients helped it weather unrest in Hong Kong and global trade tensions.
