Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open flat this morning at 5577.   Calls for a flat open this morning come as reality over fresh lockdown measures in the UK hit investors.  Overnight in Asia were mostly higher today after a private survey showed that China’s manufacturing sector expanded for the sixth straight month in October.  China’s Shanghai Composite was up 0.08% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index edged higher by 1.13%.  Shares in Japan led gains with a 1.51% rise.

 

 

Company News:

Associated British Foods have estimated they would lose £375m of sales from temporary closures of its stores in major markets due to COVID-19 restrictions.

AstraZeneca have said that Britain's health regulator had started an accelerated review of its potential coronavirus vaccine.

EasyJet are considering its options to bolster its finances and are open to state support to help the airline get through the coronavirus pandemic.

Ocado have announced that they are to buy two robotics companies, Kindred Systems and Haddington Dynamics for a total of $287m. They also see FY EBITDA to be over £60m, verses previous guidance of over £40m. They continue to see high demand as consumers migrate to online grocery in record numbers.

Purplebricks reports that they have seen strong levels of new instructions during the last five months and now expect to report an 8% increase in instructions for the six month period.

Superdry announce that they have appointed Benedict Smith as interim CFO.
