Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +15 points at 6181.  Global stocks rallied as Economic data show many countries around the world continuing to creep back towards normal.  Asian markets delivered a green sweep on Tuesday morning, led by the Nikkei 225 in Tokyo, which is up 1.5%, while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong is up 0.6% and the Shanghai Composite is just on the right side of flat.  Trading in the US saw The Dow Jones add almost 92 points or 0.4% to 25,475, while the S&P 500 rose 0.4% and the tech-led Nasdaq Composite added 0.7% as investors appeared to shrug off the devastation caused by the US riots this week.

 

Company News:

 

Card Factory reports resilient sales performance in challenging market conditions with +3.6% growth in revenue. However, profit before tax -4.4% and EPS -12.8%. As COVID-19 has affected trading and increased uncertainty, they have not provided financial guidance for FY21.

 

Galliford Try has won the contract for the University of Strathclyde project worth £42m.

 

Mediclinic posts an annual loss of £315m for FY 19/20.

 

Tesco announce that their CFO Alan Stewart will retire from his role on 30th April 2021.
