Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +9 points today at 7080. Shares in Asia slumped on Tuesday as concerns on new variants of coronovirus and new outbreaks grew, which could hamper an economic recovery. This is in spite of the Fed recently contemplating tapering its quantitative easing program. The Delta version of Covid is denting sentiment now. This has just drawn the markets to trade sideways, after the Fed surprised traders last week with a hawkish view on interest rates. European stocks felt the effects as Hong Kong said it would ban passenger flights from the UK. Consumer confidence data is in focus later today from the US. Oil was hit yesterday as Brent finished down 0.47% at $74.33 a barrel while US light was down 0.41% at $74.61.
