The UK 100 called to open -10 points at 7925. UK 100 is set to open flat on Tuesday as traders wait to see how the breakthrough UK-EU deal on the Northern Irish border is received. Wall Street ended in the green with the Dow +0.2%, S&P +0.3% and Nasdaq +0.6%. In Asia the Nikkei was up 0.1%, Shanghai +0.3% whilst the Hang Seng was down 0.3%
ABRDN fell to a FY pretax loss and reported a slide in client funds for 2022 as global markets turmoil and runaway inflation weighed on its finances. They reported a pretax loss of £615m, compared with a £1.1bn profit the prior year. Asset’s under management fell 8% to £500bn, from £542bn previously. They announced a 14.6p per share FY dividend for investors.
Intertek reports that their pretax profit has grown to £419.8m, from £413.4m YoY. They declare a 2022 dividend of 105.8p per share, unchanged YoY. They have incurred £27m of restructuring costs in 2022 to reduce their cost base in 2023.
Man Group beats expectations on assets under management and posts 6% fee revenue growth. Assets under management rose to $143.3bn, up from $138.4bn previously.
Ocado reported a worse-than-expected FY loss, partly reflecting profits being wiped out at its joint retail venture with Marks & Spencer. They reported a loss before tax of £501m over the year to Nov 27th, which compared to analysts’ average forecast of a £399m loss.
Serco pretax profit rises to £196.8m form £192.2m as they lift their dividend by 19% to 2.86p per share. In 2023 they expect a rise in revenue and underlying trading profit. There is a new £90m share buyback for 2023 amid better-than-expected 2022 cash performance.
Travis Perkins reports that their 2022 pretax profit falls to £245m from £305.6m YoY. They are planning for a decline in overall market volume of mid to high single digit range.
