Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open -25 points today at 7000.   It is set to be a slightly lower start this morning as investors take lead from Asia this morning which saw the Hang Seng trading at 9 month lows, however, with a raft of companies reporting this morning, all eyes will be on whether some strong results is enough to change sentiment?  US stocks were in cautiously optimistic mode as big tech earnings started to come in yesterday.  The S&P 500 and Dow Jones both rose 0.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite only just managed to finish in positive territory.  Traditional safe haven gold eased back below the $1800.00 an ounce mark.
