Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open -27 points today at 7000.  The UK bluechip index is set to take its lead from a mixed session in Asia this morning as China’s continued clampdown on technology companies.  The Shanghai Composite was off by 2.4% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dropped 3.2%.   Japan  Nikkei 225 was the stand out performer, trading 1% higher.  This comes after a record breaking day on Friday stateside which saw the Dow Jones clear through 35,000 for the first time, after 5 previous attempts.  It was a complete set of record closes on Friday on Wall Street, the Nasdaq and the S&P also striking record highs.

AstraZeneca says their Ultomiris medicine has been recommended by CHMP of European Medicines Agency.
Cranswick reports that outlook for current FY remains in line with expectations.
Ryanair's loss widens in Q1, but traffic rebounds as they at best expect to achieve a breakeven in its current financial year. Traffic rebounded to 8.1m in the quarter to June 30th from 500,000 a year before. As a result, revenue nearly tripled to 370.5m euros (2020: 125.2m euros).
