Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +27 points at 7772.  The UK 100 is expected to open higher on Thursday after a rebound US markets following early losses, At the close, US stocks had recovered from the tech-led drop in early trading. The Dow Jones recovered significant early losses to end the session up 10 points to finish modestly higher at 33,744. Meanwhile, the S&P was also recovered through the session and ended close to flat at 4,016, the Nasdaq had also mostly recovered, but still finished 21 points lower at 11,313.

Company News:

Diageo beat H1 sales forecasts as they raised prices and more people drank premium spirits. They reported that net sales rose 9.4% in the six months to Dec 31st, beating analyst forecasts for a 7.9% rise.

 

 

Fevertree have forecast a rise in its 2023 revenue as they expect the business to continue expanding in the USA and to also return to growth in the UK market. They expect revenue for 2023 to be between £390-405m, higher than the £344.3m reported in 2022.

 

 

Jet2 expects their FY results to beat current average market expectations.

 

 

Provident Financial says their CEO Malcolm Le May is to step down and be replaced by Ian McLaughlin.

 

 

Prudential plans to offer life and health insurance in Macau.

 

 

St James’s Place report that their 2022 closing funds under management fell to £148.37bn from £153.99bn YoY. Their 2022 net inflows fall to £9.78bn from £11.04bn YoY. They state that UK inflation may have peaked, which is a more positive indicator for the company. Demand for face-to-face advice is getting stronger as the firm is well positioned.

 

 

Tate & Lyle says their outlook for year-end is unchanged as Q3 2023 trading was in line with H1. They state that their food and beverage solutions revenue is up 19%, sucralose revenue drops 8%.

 

 

Wizz Air Holdings state that their average fares in Q3 were higher than last year and before the pandemic on booking volumes which were also beating 2022 levels.
