UK 100 called to open +10 points this morning at 6047. Calls for a positive open come as investors seem to be happy to wait to see if there are any further developments in the US-China trade negotiations. During trading in the US yesterday, The Dow Jones gave up 60.02 points, or 0.2%, to close at 28,248.44 on Tuesday, shares of Apple weighed heavily on the index, breaking what was a 5 day winning streak. However, the S&P 500 added 0.4% to close at 3,443.62. In the process the index struck another record high on strength in other tech shares. The Nasdaq also advanced, in this case 0.8% to 11,466.47, also a record. Shares in Salesforce gained 4% while Amgen and Honeywell were both up by at least 3% after it was announced that these three companies will be added to the Dow later this month. The three stocks they will replace — Exxon Mobil, Pfizer and Raytheon Technologies dropped 3%, 1% and 1.5%, respectively. This came on the back of mixed economic data which saw a 36% surge in sales of newly built homes in July in the US. However, consumer confidence fell for a second straight month.
