Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open +160 points at 6160.  A positive opening call comes as as retailers get ready to re-open. Boris Johnson’s plans to ease the lockdown with dates for local street markets, car dealerships and even department stores reopening possibly adding to some share price gains today.  This also follows strong rises from international markets over the Bank Holiday weekend.  The Germany’s Dax hit its highest levels since 6 March on hopes of a bailout to rescue Lufthansa and reports of a deal by Bayer to settle its big US lawsuits.  Oil prices climbed on Tuesday, boosted by increasing faith in the market that producers will to stick to commitments to cut crude supply while demand picks up with more cars back on the road as coronavirus lockdowns are eased around the world.  US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures gained 3.2 percent, or $1.06, to $34.31, Brent crude futures were up nearly 1.7 percent, or 59 cents to $36.12, adding to a 1.1 percent gain on Monday in thin holiday trading.
