The UK 100 is called to open -26 points this morning at 7250. The UK 100 looks set to start the week slightly lower this morning, ahead of a busy week of corporate earnings in the UK. The drop for the UK's bluechip index follows on from Fridays tough session on Wall Street, which saw the Dow Jones lose 137.61 points, or 0.43%, to 31,899.29. The S&P declined 0.93% to 3,961.63, while the Nasdaq Composite traded 1.87% lower to 11,834.11. However, those losses merely cut into weekly gains for all three major averages, with the Dow closed out the week nearly 2% higher. The S&P advanced about 2.6%, and the Nasdaq ended the week up 3.3%.
AstraZeneca's Ultomiris has been recommended for EU approval. Their drug Enhertu has also been granted priority review in the US for some breast cancer.
Card Factory's CFO Kris Lee is to leave after transition period.
Ryanair have posted an after-tax profit of 170m euros for the three months ended June, its first profit in the quarter in three years but well short of pre-COVID-19 profit levels.
Vodafone reported a drop in service revenue in its largest market Germany in Q1, reflecting broadband and TV losses in H2 of its last financial year after regulation changes. Overall service revenue growth accelerated slight Q-o-Q to +2.5%, helped by Turkey and Britain.
