Markets Overview:

UK 100 is called to open -35 points this morning at 6665.  A weaker open is expected this morning as concerns grow over rising infection rates within mainland Europe meaning that it is unlikely that international travel will be able to resume completely, which will, in turn, could weigh on travel and leisure stocks, despite the UK still rolling out vaccinations at a rapid pace.  On Wall Street yesterday it was an all red day, the Dow Jones closed 0.94% lower at 32,423 while the S&P 500 dropped 0.76% to 3,910 and the Nasdaq fell 1.12% to 13,227.  It was a similar story in Asia this morning with Japan’s Nikkei 225 down 2.04% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 2.24%.
