Markets Overview:

UK 100 is called to open -30 points this morning at 6908. Calls for a softer open today come on the back of a tough session in the US yesterday after it was reported that the Biden administration is looking to increase the rate of capital gains tax to 39.6% for those Americans earning $1mln or more per year.  This saw The Dow Jones fall by 321 points to 33,816 while the S&P 500 lost just 38 points at 4,135.  It was a more mixed session in Asia this morning, Japan’s Nikkei continued the tougher trading conditions from the US with a 226 point fall to trade at 28,962 but in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng was on the rise, up 259 points at 29,014.
