Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +23 points today at 7211. Asia finished the week on a positive note as tech stocks rallied, following their US peers. Chinese property stocks rallied as Chinese Evergrande Group made a surprise interest payment. Cyclical stocks were a drag amid worries that central banks will need to tighten monetary policy into slowing growth in order to tackle growing inflation. Better jobs and housing data helped the dollar maintain its momentum and boosted the case for a faster tapering of Federal reserve stimulus, and an earlier rate hike. Oil jumped overnight, after dropping back earlier in the week amid continued tightness in US supply. Brent crude added 0.2% to $84.77, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 0.2% to $82.65.
