Markets Overview:

UK 100 is called to open +33 points this morning at 6928.  Calls for a positive open come as global stocks have rallied overnight, On Wall Street yesterday, the Dow Jones gained 316 points or 0.9% to close Wednesday at 34,137 having recovered from a tough start.  The S&P similarly rose by 0.9% to 4,173 at the end of play, and, the Nasdaq was the stand out gainer, adding 163 points or 1.19% to finish at 13,950.  In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei climbed 590 points or 2.08% to 29,100 whilst Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.38% to 28,729. The Shanghai Composite meanwhile was the only index top fall, dropping a modest 0.14% at 3,465.

AJ Bell reports that their end of Q2 assets under administration totalled £65.2bn (2020: ££48.3bn) and their number of customers were 346,797 (2020: 262,179).

 

Domino's Pizza Group reports strong Q1 trading, with exceptional trading over the new year period. System sales came in at £371.3m for Q1 which was +18.7% on the same period last year.

 

Informa declares no dividend for 2020 (2019: 7.5p paid) as they state they will deliver a baseline revenue of £1.7bn in 2021 "transition year". Revenue growth will depend on the pace and scale of return to physical events.

 

Polymetal reports that their Q1 2020 revenue increased 20% YoY to $593m and gold production was up 3% to 375 koz.

 

Rentokil sales rise on disinfection boost and resurge in pest control services. Revenue for Q1 jumped 15.4% to £711.3m but they did add that demand for disinfection services is expected to unwind in the year.

 

Segro reports that their quarterly customer retention remains high at 82%.

 

Taylor Wimpey sees strong housing demand as the sector benefits from a lower interest rate environment and additional budget support measures announced last month. Their order book stands at £2.81bn as of April 18th (2020: £2.67bn).
