Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open slightly lower this morning (-22 points, 5.8 of these being dividends) This morning at 7181; However this is still 60 points higher than this time yesterday!  Global markets once again showed their resilience following the Fed’s minutes last night, Asian sessions were slightly muted but held firm as did US stocks which refused to give up the days gains!  This is after the markets were told “not to expect automatic rate cuts”. Oil maintained the $60 per barrel level, this could be key for the UK Index listed oilies today, could we see a continuation of yesterday’s rise? Gold maintained its level of $1502 from yesterday maybe an indication that risk on appetite is still very much in play?

In corporate news this morning:

Antofagasta reported a H1 2019 profit of +44%, benefiting from higher copper sales, by-product revenue and lower cost of production. Core earnings rose to $1.31bn (2018: $904.2m) & revenue +19% to $2.53bn, but net cash costs -22% to $1.19 per pound of copper.

Mulberry announce the appointment of Charles Anderson to the Company's board of directors as Group Finance Director with effect from early October 2019.

NMC Health announced revenues of $1,236m (2018: $932m). EBITDA $323.5m (2018: $225.5m). Intends to immediately start the process to seek shareholder approval for a share buyback programme.

Premier Oil announced +23.5% rise in H1 2019 profit after tax to $121m (2018: $98m) boosted by record output and reiterated its targets for the year. This was helped by higher contribution from Catcher field in Britain's North Sea.
