Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open -79 points this morning at 5945.   Asian markets remained in a narrow range last night as investors widespread, waited on much needed developments regarding US fiscal stimulus, as well as coronavirus vaccines as the virus has again shown a resurgence in Europe. Many European countries have already started new restrictions, to try curb the spread. Worldwide cases have now surpassed 30million and the prospect of a V-shape recovery is now bleak. The US already was in the red at the close on Friday evening, perhaps preparing everyone for a negative start to this week. Gold has seen a rise again as a safe haven but was slightly down last night at $1951.3 an ounce whilst oil slipped 2 cents to $43.13 per barrel for WTI and a 1 cent fall, $41.1 for Brent.

Company News:

Firstgroup announce that the department for transport has extended the emergency funding arrangements for the UK rail industry for the next 6-18 months.
Superdry reports that FY 2020 total revenue fell 19.2% to £704.4m to which they reported a FY loss of £41.8m (2019: £38m profit) as coronavirus has caused disruption to operations and impacted sales.
