Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +19 points today at 6900. A stronger open is expected this morning following yesterdays sizable bounce on Wall Street, following Mondays fall. The Dow Jones closed 1.62% higher at 34,511, while the S&P 500 was up 1.52% at 4,323 and the Nasdaq rose 1.57% to 14,498. In Asia this morning the picture was slightly more mixed, in Japan, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.4% while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng dropped 0.54%.

Company News:

Mulberry reports a FY21 pretax profit of £4.6m (2020: £27.9m loss) as sales since the end of FY21 are up 45% YoY.
Next raises Full-price sales guidance for rest of the year by 3-6%.
Petropavlovsk reports that their H1 gold output fell 39% to 195 Koz.
Royal Mail reported a 12.5% rise in revenue in Q1 as lockdown curbs encouraged people to shop online, although parcel volumes in the UK have started to dip as the country starts to ease restrictions. Parcel volumes fell 13% in the latest quarter (v same period 2020) but were up 19% v the same period in 2019.
Wickes says outlook for the FY remains in line with its expectations.
