Markets Overview:

 

The UK 100 is called to open +65 points this morning at 7367.  The UK 100 looks set to bounce back this morning, following a turbulent days trading on Thursday, Indices in the US took another battering yesterday but Asian indices this morning are on the recovery trail.  The Dow Jones tumbled 237 points to 31,253 while the S&P dived 23 points to 3,901, leaving it close to 20% below its high point from 4th January, the traditional definition of a bear market.  In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei was up 321 points at 26,724 while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was 369 points heavier at 20,490.

BHP are to pay their shareholders a special dividend in Woodside Petroleum shares for oil merger.

 

 

Close Brothers performed "well" in Q3 with loan book growth in Banking unit. They note that client assets were reduced in CBAM, on negative market movements. They state that their Winterflood unit saw an improvement in trading income and believe it will continue to deliver growth and profitability.

 

 

Croda International says trading in 2022 has been strong with continued sales and profit growth.

 

 

IQE reports that their 2021 pretax loss widens to £22.2m (2020: £3.9m loss).

 

 

Playtech: TTB Partners has until June 17th to announce offer intention or walk away.

 

 

THG rejects bid from Belerion-King for 170p per share as it undervalues the company. Candy ventures confirms early stages of considering bid for THG.
