The UK 100 is called to open -130 points today at 7137. A significant fall is expected this morning for the UK 100 as Omicron cases have risen sharply over the weekend and the Netherlands locks down, In Asia shares fell on Monday as China trimmed its one-year loan prime rate from 3.85% to 3.8% — the first cut in the benchmark lending rate since April 2020.  The Nikkei in Japan slumped 2.13% while South Korea’s Kospi declined 1.81.%.   China’s Shanghai Composite slipped 1.04% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 2%.  On Friday The Dow Jones dropped 532.20 points, or 1.5%, to close out the week at 35,365.44. The S&P fell 1% for a second consecutive down day to end at 4,620.64. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ended the session less than 0.1% lower at 15,169.68 after briefly trading in the green having bounced from its session low, when at one point the Nasdaq had dropped about 1.5%.
