UK 100 called to open -15 points at 7308; A negative open is seen after the US through fuel on the tinderbox trade situation by drawing China's ire after the Senate unanimously passed a bill supporting protesters in Hong Kong warning against a violent suppression. This lead to a risk off appetite in Asian trading seeing the Nikkei -144 points (-0.62%), & the Hang Seng -208 points (-0.77%). Trading in the US was also muted as the Dow closed -102 points (-0.36%) & The S&P -1.85 points (-0.06%). The Nasdaq however bucked this trend by closing +20 points (+0.24%). Oil slipped overnight to sit at $60.9. The big winner was gold, rising from $1474.
Babcock reported half year results showing they are Delivering against expectations and confirming full year guidance. Underlying revenue of £2458m, underlying operating profit £251m, Statutory revenue -2.7%, EPS 32.5p and interim dividend increased to 7.2p. Outlook for the year ending 31st March 2020 unchanged.
Fevertree trading update states continued growth across all four regions. Acceleration in key growth markets of the US & Europe in the second half. The group remains on track to deliver growth across all its regions with the US performing ahead of expectations. Revenue for FY expected to be £266-£268m, representing Y-O-Y growth 12-13%, with margin expectations unchanged.
Kingfisher Q3 trading update to 31 October 2019 sales of £3.0 billion, down 3.2% in constant currency; LFL down 3.7%
Micro Focus Micro Focus expects to report full year Revenue and Adjusted EBITDA that are consistent with the revised revenue guidance given at the time of the trading update on 29 August 2019 and in line with Company Compiled Consensus.
Mitchells & Butler delivered strong adjusted profit before tax growth up 10.7% and continued to outperform. Total revenue +£86m, Operating profit +£42m, Profit before tax +£47m, EPS +9p per share YoY.
Sage reported Strong recurring revenue growth and significant progress in strategic execution. Organic total revenue +5.6%; Organic recurring revenue +10.8; Organic operating profit -13%; Dividend per share +2.5%
