Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +33 points today at 7270. The UK 100 look set to make a positive start the week following Friday’s record close on Wall Street and Asia’s strong open to the new trading week this morning.  The Nikkei in Japan lead Asia markets by jumping 2.61% and South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.28%.  It was a more mixed session for China’s Shanghai Composite, which slipped 0.04% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng which dropped 0.94%.  On Friday The S&P rose 0.19% to close at 4,605.38, the Dow Jones added 89.08 points, or 0.25%, to finish at 35,819.56 and the Nasdaq rose 0.33% to close at 15,498.39. All three closed at record highs.

Company News:

Barclays report that their CEO Jes Staley has stepped down from his role following an FCA and PRA probe into his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Barclays have named CS Venkatakrishnan as their new CEO starting Monday.
Land Securities reaches a £190m deal to buy U&I Group.
Ryanair update that their October passenger traffic came in at 4.1m passengers, down from 11.3m YoY as they operated 71,500 flights in October.  They are set for a "challenging" winter but have trimmed their pretax loss to 99.9m euros (from 432.3m euros in 2020).
