Markets Overview:

 

 The UK 100 is called to open +13 points this morning at 7620. The UK 100 is set to start the last day of the especially short working week on the front foot. Tuesday’s close on Wall Street saw the Dow Jones give up 222 points or 0.67% to 32,990 while the S&P similarly shed 0.63% to end the session at 4,132.  The Nasdaq closed 0.41% lower, finishing at 12,081. The small-cap Russell 2000 index fell furthest though losing 1.26% to trade at 1,864 by the end of the day.  In Asia this morning it was a more mixed picture, Japan’s Nikkei rose some 187 points or 0.69% to 27,467.  Hong Kong’s Hang Seng remained on the back foot, down 242 points or 1.13% at 21,173.  The Shanghai Composite meanwhile dipped 0.77% to 3,162.

BHP Group have announced that the merger of BHP's oil and gas portfolio with Woodside Energy Group Limited by an all-stock merger has completed today.

 

 

Bank of Ireland announces it has completed the acquisition of J&E Davy, Ireland's leading provider of wealth management and capital markets services.

 

 

Dr Martens released a market update this morning, which they said had seen strong performance in Americas and EMEA, with reported revenue up 29% and 19% respectively. Gross margin grew 2.8pts to 63.7%, driven by increased DTC. This gross margin performance, partially offset by annualisation of Plc costs, return to business as usual spending and planned increased marketing investment, resulted in an EBITDA1 margin of 29.0%.  The Board is proposing a final dividend of 4.28p, taking the total dividend to 5.50p. This brings the total payout ratio to 30%, from 25% in respect of the interim payout

 

 

GSK Today provided an Update on Proposed demerger of the Consumer Healthcare business from GSK to form Haleon, announcing they had Submitted documents to FCA

 

 

John Wood Group announces it has signed an agreement for the sale of its Built Environment consulting business to WSP Global Inc for gross proceeds of approximately $1.9 billion.

 

 

Johnson Matthey today announces that that it has completed the sale of its Health business in accordance with the terms of the sale agreement entered into between JM and Altaris Capital Partners a leading healthcare investment firm.

 

 

Tullow Oil and Capricorn Energy have reached agreement on the terms of a recommended all-share combination of Tullow and Capricorn to create the Combined Group.
