UK 100 is called to open -52 points this morning at 6982.  Calls for a negative open this morning come as investors await the latest inflation figures to come out of the UK today, recent rises globally has been a key influencer behind market sentiment. Yesterday on Wall Street it was a tough session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing down 0.78% at 34,060 while the S&P 500 dropped 0.85% to 4,127 and the Nasdaq fell 0.56% to 13,303. It was a similar picture in Asia this morning as Japan’s Nikkei fell by 1.79%. Hong Kong’s market, meanwhile, is closed for a public holiday.

BAE Systems notes high demand as order intake is ahead of expectations, but they keep FY sales and underlying EBIT expectations unchanged.

 

Dunelm expects their pretax profit to be ahead of expectations.

 

Experian reports that their pretax profit rose 14% to $1.08bn (2020: $942m).

 

Marston's reports a H1 net profit of £199.3m swung from a £28m loss YoY due to brewing JV gain. They state that trading has been encouraging since the opening of outdoor trading.

 

Mitchells & Butlers H1 pretax loss widened to £200m from £121m YoY, with H1 like-for-like sales down 30% from pre-COVID level.

 

Premier Foods pretax profit rises to £122.8m in FY, from £53.6m in 2020.

 

Severn Trent reports a FY21 pretax profit of £267.2m, down from £310.7m in FY20.
