The UK 100 is called to open -50 points today at 6956. For the first time since mid April the UK 100 index looks set to open below 7000. Continued concerns surrounding inflation and increasing cases of the delta variant of Covid virus have been the major contributing factors. On Friday former Fed chair Janet Yellen, issued a warning on rising prices predicting the cost of living and raw materials would grow rapidly for several more months before settling into normal patterns. On Friday all major indicies fell, the Dow Jones dropped by 0.8%, as did the Nasdaq, while the S&P fell by narrowly less, at a decline of 0.7%. It was a similar picture this morning in Asia, shares fell across the board, the Nikkei in Japan shed nearly 1.5% in the early trading hours, In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng fell 1.6%, while the Shanghai Composite edged down 0.3%.
