Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open -81 points today at 7066. Markets are all set to the start the day in the red as Europe takes the baton from Asia. Stocks retreated to their lowest levels this year, as fears notched higher on global growth and an end to central bank support, drove investors to safe havens. Oil was off for the sixth straight session, trading at three month lows, Brent crude was last down 1% at $67.54 a barrel, U.S. crude lost 1.2% to trade at $64.42 a barrel, whilst copper fell to two month lows. The Delta variant of the coronavirus, the tech crackdown in China and the impression the Fed is going to slow down its asset purchases was enough to sink Asia last night. The Fed' July meeting showed the expectation of easing if stimulus. A stronger dollar dragged gold down by 0.55% to $1778.87
