Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +19 points today at 7195. Asia bucked the trend and moved off year-to-date lows, even though the Dow declined overnight. New Zealand, which remains in lockdown, defied expectations by not raising interest rates. Where economies are reopening and vaccinations are going up, the spread of the Delta variant is still prominent, which has been seen in the slowing of economic data, which mostly has been on the downside. This was seen in China's GDP read on Monday, where growth was 7.9% below the 8.1% forecast. Overnight, Wall Street remained in the red after a fall in retail sales. Oil moved up slightly after falling four sessions in a row, Crude was up 0.11% at $66.66 a barrel.
