Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +5 points this morning at 6053. Calls for a positive open come on the back of a positive session in Asian on Friday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 index up 0.1% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index ahead 0.3% and US futures slightly higher.  On Thursday the continuation of the sell off stateside that began Wednesday continued, The Dow Jones closed 130.40 points lower, or 0.47%, to sit at 27,901.98. The S&P also slid, in this case by 0.84% to finish at 3,357.01. And the Nasdaq completed the tough day on Wall Street, dropping 1.27% to 10,910.28. The tech sell off that built up momentum in the previous session continued yesterday, weighing heavily on the major indices.

 

Company News:

EasyJet have appointed Kenton Jarvis as their new CFO.

Investec have warned that its HY 2020 profits could fall by up to 71%. They expect their adjusted earnings per share to be between 8.3p-10.5p (2019: £28.9p).

London Stock Exchange has begun exclusive talks with Euronext on the sale of Borsa Italiana after reviewing a group of competing bids for the Milan stock exchange.

Premier Oil has received indicative, non-binding support of more than $325m for a capital increase linked to a debt restructuring.
