Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open -22 points to open at 7160;  This comes on the back of a momentous day yesterday as a deal was struck between the UK and the EU for Brexit, Boris Johnson begins efforts today to persuade Parliament to back his Brexit deal. He'll be looking for votes to replace the 10 he won't get from the DUP, as critics weigh whether to cave in and accept the plan or face the prospect of a no-deal divorce.  Global equity markets saw a mixed trading session, The U.S saw modest gains across all markets, this on the back of the U.S. brokering a Syria deal, holds off Turkey sanctions.  In Asia we saw an up and down trading session with the Nikkei closing at +45 points, whilst the Hang Seng closed down 145 points.  Oi rallied overnight before retracing this morning to sit at $59.86.  Gold remains at the same level as this time yesterday $1490.

 

In corporate news this morning:

 

Dechra Pharmaceuticals announced that the board remains confident about the company’s prospects for the current financial year. Work continues to resolve the supply issues previously highlighted with many of these having now been mitigated. 

 

InterContinental Hotels Group Q3 trading update +4.7% YoY net system size growth, on track to exceed 5% for FY 2019. 13k rooms opened, signed 25k rooms in the quarter. Group revenues -0.8%, flat for Q3 YTD. The board remains confident in their financial outcome for the rest of 2019. 

London Stock Exchange reported Q3 results, strong performance across all parts of the group with total income +12% to £587m. CFO David Warren will retire and step down from the board by the end of 2020.
