Markets Overview:

 

The UK 100 is called to open -3 points this morning at 7512.  Calls for a marginally lower open come after stocks fell on Wednesday as traders assessed the latest retail data and minutes from the Federal Reserve.  The Dow Jones shed 171.69 points, or 0.5%, to close at 33,980.32. The S&P slid 0.72% to close at 4,274.04, while the Nasdaq tumbled 1.25% to 12,938.12.  The Dow ended its 5-day win streak but finished the session slightly positive week to date. The S&P and Nasdaq have slipped 0.14% and 0.84%, respectively, since the start of the week.

Company News:

 

AO World reported a fall in annual profit as they took a hit from supply chain snags, higher labour and marketing costs. Their adjusted core profit came in at £8.5m (2021: £64.4m profit). They expect their adjusted core profit for 2023 to be in the range of £20-30m.
Made.com is considering all options to strengthen balance sheet which includes a potential equity capital raise.
 
Marshalls sees group FY in line with market expectations as they report a HY profit before tax on a statutory basis of £23.9m.
Rank Group warn that trading conditions are likely to remain challenging in the months ahead as their underlying net gaming revenue is running 3% ahead of last year in the first seven weeks of 2022/23.
