Geopolitical tensions caused 50pts to come off the value of the Dow Jones, closing at 16,662pts. While Asian markets recorded an indecisive session as narrow gains or losses were recorded as Ukraine/Russia optimism was offset by a fall in Chinese new home prices on weak demand.

In commodities gold continued is decline for a second day, currently trading at $1301 having hit lows of $1292 on Friday, as outlook for an improving US economy outweighed tensions in Ukraine. Silver also fell to two month lows having fallen below $19.50.
