The UK 100 is called to open -40 points this morning at 7230. The UK 100 looks set to open in the red this morning ahead of todays Bank of England Interest rate meeting, It comes after an expected 75 basis points rate raise by the US Federal Reserve prompted something of a relief rally in New York stocks, and supported stronger prices in Asia. The Dow Jones added 303 points, around 1%, to close Wednesday at 30,668 whilst the S&P gained 1.46% to 3,789. Rising 270 points or 2.5%, the Nasdaq had an even stronger finish reaching 11,099. The Russell 2000 small-cap focussed index meanwhile climbed 1.36% to 1,731. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei added 151 points or 0.57% to trade at 26,476 whilst Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was more volatile, losing 1.12% to 21,069 and similarly, the Shanghai Composite was on the back foot, albeit by only 0.21%.
ASOS names current COO Jose Calamonte as their new CEO. They state that gross sales were up in 3-months, but net sales were hit by returns rates increase. They now expect a FY sales hike in the range of 4-7% amid volatility as they revise their adjusted pretax profit range to be between £20-60m.
Boohoo reports that revenue in the 3 months to May 31st was down 8% YoY to £445.7m. They state that revenue performance was in line with prior guidance as net sales were hurt by normalisation of returns due to product mix change. Their FY outlook is unchanged as adjusted EBITDA margin is tipped to be between 4-7%.
Harbour Energy launches a $200m share buyback programme.
THG says that all recent takeover approaches were unsolicited and undervalued the firm.
