UK 100 called to open +44 points at 7334; On the back of overnight news that U.S.-China trade talks are down to the "short strokes" and officials are talking daily, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said. Trading in the US saw early losses pared by the close, with the Dow closing flat, the S&P +2 points and the Nasdaq -3 points. It was a different story in Asia on the back of trade talk positive sentiment the Nikkei +points, and the Hang Seng +41 points. Oil rose slightly from yesterdays closing price to settle at $62.6 per barrel and gold pulled back slightly from session highs of $1471 to sit at $1464 at time of writing.
Amerisur are to be purchased by GeoPark for 19.21p per share which values the company at approximately £242m.
AstraZeneca have announced that Qtrilmet approved in the EU for the treatment of type-2 diabetes.
Talk Talk reported 1H 2019 results with revenue of £792m, EBITDA of £140m and operating profit of £29m. EBITDA for the year remains unchanged.
