Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 is called to open +12 points this morning at 7146.  Calls for a positive open today come today despite the expectation today that Downing Street may delay the further relaxation of pandemic restrictions.  US equities ended higher on Friday bolstered by gains in the financial and tech stocks. The Dow Jones rose 0.04%, or 13 points, to 34,479, while the S&P 500 index added 0.19%, or 8 points to 4,247. The Nasdaq closed 0.35%, or 49 points, higher at 14,069.  In Asia overnight In Japan, Nikkei 225 rose 0.6%, while South Korea’s Kospi dipped marginally.  Markets in Australia, mainland China and Hong Kong are closed on Monday for holidays.

Just Eat Takeaway.com: Blackrock has a 6.4% stake in Just Eat after transaction last week.

 

Saga announce that Steve Kingshott will join as Insurance CEO in the autumn.

 

Serco has upped their underlying trading profit forecast by £15m, to £200m.

 

Ted Baker reported an underlying loss for the pandemic-hit fiscal 2021 and warned that its Q1 revenue for the current year fell 20% due to coronavirus restrictions during the period. They reported an underlying pretax loss of £59.2m (2020: £4.8m profit).
