Markets Overview:

UK 100 is called to open -10 points this morning at 6880.  Calls for mixed open come as China's balance of Trade for March was announced this morning. in US Dollar terms, the surplus collapsed to $13.8 bn versus an expectation of $52.0 bn. Exports however, increased in March year on year by 30.60% versus 35.50% expected.  Yesterday stateside saw markets struggle to gain ground, with the S&P off by a point at 4,128 and the Dow Jones 55 points weaker at 33,745.  In Asia this morning, things are a bit more positive with Japan’s Nikkei up 235 points at 29,774 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng 137 points higher at 28,591.

Babcock says that their FY21 results will include £1.7bn in impairments charges which will reduce underlying profit by £30m per year.

 

Hays expects that their 2021 profit is to be at least £85m ahead of market expectations.

 

JD Sports reports a FY profit before tax of £324m and declared a dividend payment of 1.44p per share. They expect that profit before tax for FY 2022 will be in the range of £475-500m.

 

Just Eat Takeaway.com Q1 orders were up 79% to £200m. (2020: £112m).

 

Land Securities receives 67% of £110m rent due on March 25th.

 

Plus500 reports that Q1 2021 revenue was down 36% to $203.2m (2020: $316.6m) and EBITDA fell 47% to $121.7m (2020: $231.6m). They expect FY revenue and EBITDA to be ahead of market consensus.
